Das Ende des Radweges umgeben von Natur

Nach einer ausgiebigen Tour zwischen dem Meer und den Bergen der Riviera di Ponente endet der Radweg in Ospedaletti. Die Nähe zu Sanremo mit beneidenswertem Klima und toller Vegetation machen diesesn Ort einen der faszinierendsten in ganz Ligurien.

Ospedaletti zwischen Mythos und Moderne

Ursprünglich von den Rittern von Rhodos gegründet und dann weiterentwickelt von den Maltesern, hält sich die Legende vom gesunkenen Schiff vor dem Strand der heutigen Stadt Ospedaletti wo die Überlebenden an Land schwammen und ein Hospiz erbauten. Daher auch der Name Ospedaletti der an die Gastfreundschaft erinnert.

Ein Teil der Stadt ist am Meer gebaut, der andere dehnt sich ins Land hinein. Für Besucher bleibt mit verschiedensten Hotels, Villas, Bars und Restaurants kein Wunsch unerfüllt, alles davon in Palmen Eukalyptus und Zitronenbäume sowie jeglicher Art von Pflanzen gehüllt.

Auf den Hügeln über der Via Aurelia befindet sich sogar ein alter Palast der heute den Mitarbeitern des Autoherstellers Fiat für deren Urlaub dienst nachdem dieser jahrelang unbenutzt war.

Der letzte Abschnitt auf dem Radweg

Verlässt man das Zentrum von Sanremo entlang der Promenade am Meer, fährt man auf dem Radweg durch den 1,7km langen Tunnel von Capo Nero, der 2014 wiedereröffnet wurde. Die Strecke beinhaltet keinerlei Schwierigkeiten und endet hier in einem der letzten Orte bevor man in Frankreich ankommt.

The end of the cycle path surrounded by nature

After accompanying visitors to discover much of the route between the sea and mountains of the Riviera di Ponente the bike path ends in Ospedaletti a pearl of rare beauty curled up in a natural amphitheater between Capo Nero and Capo Sant’Ampelio. Close to Sanremo, Ospedaletti has an enviable climate and rich vegetation that turns this place into one of the most fascinating parts of Liguria.

Discover Ospedaletti: between myth and modernity

Originally Ospedaletti was founded by the Knights of Rhodes and then developed more and more by the Knights of Malta. Legend has it that a ship sank in the waters close to the area that today makes up the town of Ospedaletti. The whole crew survived and after swimming to the beach, settled there and built a hospice to give shelter to pilgrims in the Holy Land. This is also the legend from where the name of Ospedaletti (refering to the hospitality of the place) derived.

One part built around the sea, the other going slightly inland, Ospedaletti is a multifaceted village that offers everything tourists may wish: villas, hotels, bars, restaurants … all of it wrapped in diverse sub-tropical vegetation: palm trees, eucalyptus, lemon trees and flowers of every type with abundant colors to brighten the view.

On the hills instead, in a outstanding position over the Via Aurelia we then find a interesting building, it is the vacation home of carmaker Fiat, where privileged employees can spend their holidays. Today the palazzo, after some time in disrepair, was restaurated and converted into a residence.

The last stretch of cycle path: everything you need to know

The bike path, leaving the center of San Remo along the seaside promenade of the so called Corso Imperatrice leads through the long tunnel of Capo Nero (ca. 1,7 km) re-opened in 2014 and quite interesting to pass as it was painted with frases and tweets reminiscing about famous moments of the cycling race “Milano-Sanremo”. The final part of the track does not hold any difficulties and the bike path ends here in one of the last Italian villages before arriving in France.

La fine della pista ciclabile immersa nella natura

La pista ciclabile si conclude a Ospedaletti. Dopo aver accompagnato i visitatori alla scoperta di gran parte della Riviera di Ponente il percorso tra mare e montagne trova la sua fine proprio in questa città, una perla di rara bellezza rannicchiata in un anfiteatro naturale tra Capo Nero e Capo Sant’Ampelio. Vicinissima a Sanremo, Ospedaletti ha un clima invidiabile e una vegetazione ricchissima che trasforma questo luogo in uno dei più affascinanti della Liguria.

Alla scoperta di Ospedaletti: tra leggenda e modernità

Anticamente Ospedaletti venne fondata dai Cavalieri di Rodi e poi venne fatta crescere e sviluppare sempre di più dai Cavalieri di Malta. Leggenda vuole che una nave affondò proprio nelle acque antistanti l’attuale città di Ospedaletti, ma tutta la ciurma si salvò e, dopo essere arrivati a nuoto sulla spiaggia, vi si insediarono e costruirono un ospizio per dare ospitalità ai pellegrini diretti in Terra Santa; da questa struttura deriva così il nome di Ospedaletti.

Accoccolata sul mare, una parte di Ospedaletti si sviluppa poi leggermente più all’interno e nella sua complessità è un borgo poliedrico e conturbante che offre tutto ciò che i turisti possono desiderare: ville, alberghi, bar, ristoranti… tutto immerso poi in un ambiente naturale ricchissimo di ogni tipo di vegetazione sub-tropicale: palme, eucaliptus, limoni e fiori di ogni tipo colorano e ravvivano il panorama.

Sulle colline invece, in una posizione dominante sulla via Aurelia poi troviamo un edificio particolare, si tratta della colonia della casa automobilistica Fiat dove i dipendenti privilegiati potevano trascorrere le ferie. Il palazzo, dopo un periodo di abbandono, è stato recuperato e trasformato in un residence.

L’ultimo tratto di pista ciclabile: tutto ciò che c’è da sapere

La pista ciclabile così, abbandonato il centro di Sanremo costeggiando la passeggiata a mare di Corso Imperatrice attraversa la lunga galleria di Capo Nero ( circa 1,7 km) inaugurata nel 2014 e resa attuale e interessante da percorrere perché è stata abbellita da frasi e tweet dedicati ai momenti che hanno reso celebre la gara ciclistica della “Milano-Sanremo”. Il tratto conclusivo della pista così non presenta alcun tipo di difficoltà e la pista ciclabile termina qui, in uno degli ultimi borghi italiani prima di arrivare in Francia.
